Community Guidelines
How we keep DSDMods useful. Last updated September 19, 2026.
DSDMods is a community of Tesla owners and enthusiasts. Most of this comes down to one thing: treat people the way you would at a meet.
The short version
- Be decent to each other, including when you disagree.
- Post in the right place, and search before starting a new thread.
- Say who you are if you are selling something.
- Do not post anything you would not want traced back to you.
Posting
- Keep it on topic. Each forum has a purpose. A Model 3 wiring question does not belong in Events.
- Give your thread a real title. "Rattle from rear hatch at 60mph" gets answered. "HELP!!!" does not.
- No spam. Repeated links, affiliate links dressed up as advice, or the same post across several forums.
- Share what you learn. If you solve a problem, come back and say how. Someone will search it in a year.
Buying and selling
- Listings go in the marketplace, not in the forums.
- Describe the item honestly, including its faults. Photos of the actual item, not from a catalogue.
- Be clear about price and postage before anyone commits.
- Deal at your own risk. DSDMods does not handle payment between members and cannot recover your money if a deal goes wrong. Meet in person for anything expensive.
- If you sell professionally, say so. A trade seller posting as a private owner is the fastest way to lose the room.
Vendors and sponsors
- Businesses are welcome, in the Vendor Zone and the marketplace.
- Say who you work for when you recommend something you sell.
- Answer questions honestly, including the ones that do not suit you.
- Do not post advertising in member threads.
Modification and safety
Plenty here involves working on a car with a high voltage battery. Advice from other members is exactly that: advice from other members. It is not from Tesla and it is not from an engineer.
- Say when something is your opinion rather than something you know.
- Mention the risk if a job carries one, including to a warranty.
- Do not encourage anyone to defeat a safety system.
- If you are not sure, say so. It is more useful than a confident guess.
Not allowed
- Abuse, harassment, threats, or attacks on someone's race, religion, sex, or anything of that kind.
- Posting someone's personal details, including their address, phone number or plate.
- Pretending to be someone else, or running more than one account.
- Copyrighted material you have no right to share, including manuals and software.
- Anything illegal, including stolen parts and defeat devices where they are unlawful.
- Deliberately misleading people to sell something.
If something goes wrong
Report the post rather than arguing in the thread. Moderators can edit or remove a post, close a thread, or suspend an account.
We will usually say something before we act. Repeated problems, or anything that puts a member at risk, may mean an account is removed without warning.
If you think we got it wrong, email support@dsdmods.com and a person will look at it.
A note on Tesla
